Basic Beekeeping Course - R450 per person

Beekeeping
can be fun. Some people do it for leisure and free honey and others do it professionally. Either way it's still a great way to get outdoors, meet people and get closer to nature. Our beekeeping course includes an estimated 60 minutes inspecting a live hive.

Get involved as a hobbyist or begin a road to commercial bee farming, either way you need to get more knowledge and hands on experience. It's like a test drive before you buy!

10% of the course fee is donated back to the project.

Our Beginner Beekeeping Course

We run a community project near Midrand, Johannesburg. Originally, 10 people were trained by Andrew Masemola through SETA. Thusanang Development Association is managed by the Rotary Club of Midrand. The association is chaired by Mike Downie and other members include ABI, Rentokil and persons from the local community.

This project is home to 13 hives. We run a basic beekeeping course from the site. It will be for an afternoon only. We will focus on as much hands-on theory as possible with at least an hour session of practical work at a hive.

We will be charging R450 for the course which includes the facilitation, the material and tea and biscuits at the site. We will have beekeeping equipment available for purchase at the site for those who aren't fully equipped to begin their beekeeping journey. We will also have the Blue Book available for purchase as a complimentary to the training.

We will provide protective clothing and gloves for those attending the course. You will also receive a course guide which you can refer to after the course is finished. Always feel free to contact us regarding equipment and tips.
